Salem, Oregon), April 13, 2019– Mary Louise VanNatta, APR, of VanNatta Public Relations was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce.
She received the recognition at the 69th Annual First Citizen’s Banquet March 8. The annual event honors individuals who exemplify servant leadership in the community.
In her introduction, Chamber President, T.J. Sullivan said, “Mary Louise has dedicated her life to being a champion for Salem and has a long history of volunteer involvement in the community. Mary Louise has spent years dedicated to public relations and event planning.”
In addition, she was recognized for her role in creating the Salem Fire Foundation. In less than four years the Foundation has placed 130 AED’s into police car and over 140 in the community as well as teaching over 13,000 eighth-graders CPR.
Entering to the Queen hit “Don’t Stop Me Now,” VanNatta dedicated her award to her father, Fred VanNatta, sharing that he always knew how to put problems into perspective. “My father always told me that If your problems can be solved with money or hard work, then you don’t have a problem,” she said.
VanNatta also received the William W. Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oregon Public Relations Society last year.
